20 años del sistema operativo Linux

Se acerca la celebración del 20 aniversario de Linux!!. La Fundación Linux ha dado a conocer algunos detalles de los eventos que se celebrarán en diferentes países del mundo para conmemorar los 20 años del sistema operativo Linux.

Hoy, 13 millones de líneas de código después, es capaz de enfrentarse a los retos tecnológicos del momento.

El 25 de agosto de 1991, un estudiante finlandés de informática llamado  escribió el siguiente correo: “Hola a todos. Estoy haciendo un sistema operativo (gratis y sólo como hobby, no va a ser nada grande y profesional como GNU) para clónicos AT 386 (486). Se ha estado gestando desde abril y ahora comienza a estar listo”. Era el principio de Linux.

En la actualidad, este sistema cuenta con un crecimiento que le ha llevado a ser utilizado en súper ordenadores, estar presente en la base del sistema operativo Android, ser un actor importante en el ‘cloud computing’ y formar parte de las soluciones informáticas de numerosos organismos públicos.

Este crecimiento de Linux en los cinco continentes ha sido posible gracias a  lo que se conoce como los “mandamientos de Linux“, y a su gran objetivo: crear un software de acceso libre para todo aquel que lo quiera destinar a cualquier tarea y la posibilidad de modificarlo.

La celebración se realizará durante los próximos meses, y contará con concursos, eventos y el anuncio de tres nuevos grupos de trabajo.

En su sitio web oficial, la Fundación ha dado a conocer algunos detalles de los eventos que tendrán lugar para conmemorar las dos décadas del sistema operativo. El festejo principal, tendrá lugar en  el Commodore Ballroom de Vancouver (Canadá) entre el 17 y 19 de agosto y contará con música en vivo, una cena buffet completa, una barra libre, juegos de casino y mucho más.

Al mencionado acto, se suma también una original concurso de diseño de camisetas y  la ganadora estará disponible para todos los asistentes al evento de celebración.

Para participar en la celebración, los usuarios  podrán grabar y enviar sus mensajes, y compartir los recuerdos favoritos que tengan de Linux. Los mensajes estarán acompañados de una serie exclusiva de historias sobre los 20 años, que incluirá un análisis sobre el futuro de Linux y de algunos de los veteranos más respetados de la comunidad. Los usuarios que deseen podrán enviar sus propias historias para que sean revisadas por los editores de la organización.

Feliz Cumpleaños Debian!!

Hoy, 16 de agosto, la comunidad Debian celebra su 18 cumpleaños  desde el anuncio de su fundación, por parte de Ian Murdock.

«El proyecto Debian fué fundado oficialmente por Ian Murdock el 16 de Agosto de 1993. En ese momento, todo el concepto de “distribución” de Linux era nuevo. Ian pretendió que Debian fuera una distribución realizada de forma abierta, en el espíritu de Linux y GNU»

En estos 18 años, se han realizado once publicaciones, siendo la más reciente Debian 6.0 «Squeeze» (publicada en Febrero del 2011);  La actual rama «inestable» contiene más de 35,000 paquetes de binarios únicamente para la arquitectura amd64, más de 44GB de ¡Software Libre!.

A lo largo de su historia, Debian ha mantenido sus objetivos de excelencia técnica, responsabilidad, y sobre todo libertad.

Todo esto no habría sido posible sin el apoyo de la comunidad: más de 1,000 Desarrolladores y Mantenedores de Debian de todo el mundo,  más de 11,000 cuentas registradas en la plataforma de colaboración Alioth,  y muchos mas usuarios, colaborando en traducciones, reportando informes de fallos, ofreciendo ayuda a otros usuarios, generando documentacion, etc.

Como proyecto nos gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para agradecer a todos nuestros usuarios, colaboradores, y por supuesto también a nuestros desarrolladores principales («upstream»). Todos ellos ayudan a que Debian sea una gran experiencia y un ¡gran proyecto!.

Joomla Day Italy 2011

The 4th Joomla!Day Italy will take place in Florence on Saturday 22 October 2011. Italian community will meet from 9 am to 7 pm in Firenze Fiera- Palazzo dei Congressi, Piazza Adua, 1 – 50123 Florence.

Firenze Fiera is an international congress center, a multifunctional facility equipped with advanced technology and functional, fully reliable services for events. JoomlaDay will be held in Auditorium, with 1000 seats. The entrance, as past editions, will be free. The theme of the conference will be the new Joomla 1.6 version. The complete program will be published in September, all are invited to participate to the call for papers to send proposals for talks.

Florence is situated in central Italy, in the heart of Tuscany, and the most developed area of tourism in the city is undoubtedly artistic-religious, thanks to the presence of innumerable works of art and churches. Joomla Day Bosnia and Herzegovina 2011

Joomla BA community is proud to announce the first Joomla Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina!

Nonick & Startup 2.0 – 2011

NONICK is an International Conference on Internet Trends that is held every year in Bilbao, Spain. It includes panel discussions, barcamp-style workshops, a startup competition and a night party. The 3rd edition of nonick will take place on 17 and 18 June 2011 in the EiTB headquarters in Bilbao.

Nonick stands for no nick. This is because, at this event, Internet users are expected to act, for once, without their nicks. Museum day

I’m very excited for the museum day. I’m very lucky because in my city are three of the most important world museum: Reina Sofia, Thyssen-Bornemisza and Prado.
